Day 01: Chennai
Pick up from Chennai airport or railway station and transfer to the hotel. Thereafter proceed for a sightseeing of Chennai- the bustling metropolis in Southern India. Visit Kapalesshwara Temple,Parthsarthy Temple, Marina BeachYou can find how harmoniously the traditional Tamil culture and modern British culture are blended. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 02: Chennai- Kumbakonam
Today morning proceed to Kumbakonam.- The Temple city of South India. The city is famous for the Mahamaham festival that is celebrated once in 12 years. Visit Vaitheeswaran Temple which is associated with the planet Mars or Sevvai . This temple is dedicated to the god Shiva. Here Shiva is worshipped as Vaitheeswaran or the “God of healing” and it is believed that prayers to Vaitheeswaran can cure diseases. Then proceed to visit Thiruvenkadu which is dedicated to Planet Mercury or Budhan. Continue visiting Keelaperumpallam dedicated to shadow planet Ketu. Return back to hotel and overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 03: Kumbakonam
Today visit Suryanar koil temple which is dedicated to Suryan or Sun who is known as the giver of health, success and prosperity and then Kanchanur temple associated with Sukran or Venus . Continue visiting Tirunageswaram temple known for its shrine to Rahu and Thingaloor temple which is dedicated to the Moon or Chandran. This temple is built before the seventh century A.D and a visit to this temple is said to grant a comfortable and long lilfe. Return back to hotel and overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 04: Kumbakonam
Today visitThirunallar, is the only temple that is dedicated to Lord Sani Or Saturn. By bathing here, it is believed that one washes off all kinds of misfortune, hardships and to escape from the woes of sani. Then proceed to visit Alangudi, regarded as a Guru Sthalam or Jupiter. The speciality here is that Lord Guru is engraved on the wall and is not in the form of separate idol reunited with Shiva. It is believed that he grants blessings to the childless and good education (Vidya) . Also visit Darasuram temple which is a UNESCO world heritage site. This temple is a storehouse of art and architecture and has some exquisite stone carvings. Return back to hotel and overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 05: Leave Kumbakonam
Check out from the hotel and proceed to Chennai airport/railway station for your onward journey.
